Sweet Pea is a jenny donkey who was bought to remove her from a neglectful situation. Her hooves, which were in terrible shape, have likely never been trimmed. Otherwise, she is in good condition, attesting to the resilience of donkeys. Sweet Pea is an absolutely gorgeous donkey with a zebra-look. She is drawn to people, but is quite cautious. She has likely been hit in the past, as she tends to flinch in response to any fast movements. Sweet Pea is a very special donkey, who is already actively participating in EFP sessions.
Sweet Pea has been vaccinated, de-wormed and had her front hooves trimmed. She will have her back hooves done as soon as her hind legs can be safely handled. Sweet Pea will not be available for adoption until she is more trusting of humans, can be safely handled for farrier work and her hooves are in better shape. In the mean time, we are very excited to have her in our therapy herd and Wilbur is thrilled to finally have a donkey friend to hang out with!
